Two rivers, two characters
The Saône is the calm one, slow and green, lined by Vieux Lyon and the twenty-four columns of the old court house. The Rhône is wide and fast, coming down from the Alps, lined by the Hôtel-Dieu and the long east-bank quays.
⭐ They meet at the southern tip of the Presqu'île, at the Confluence.
Walking the quays
The banks of the Rhône have been made into a long riverside promenade, busy on summer evenings. The Saône quays are quieter and greener. ⭐ Cross the footbridges: the views of Fourvière from the Saône bridges are the classic ones.
